All About You
- HCPC Registered Occupational Therapist
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
- Post‐qualification experience working with adults with learning disabilities and/or complex needs
- Experience managing complex cases involving safeguarding, risk and multi‐agency working
- Strong understanding of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
- Strong functional assessment and intervention planning skills
- Experience of environmental adaptation and promoting independence
- Ability to work autonomously and exercise sound professional judgement
- Excellent communication and partnership working skills
- Passion for strengths‐based, person‐centred practice
What Will You Be Doing?
You will undertake specialist Occupational Therapy assessments for adults with learning disabilities and complex needs, including functional, environmental and risk assessments. You will develop formulations that reflect each individual's strengths, needs, preferences and lived experience, creating interventions that promote independence, occupational engagement and stability. The work is grounded in strengths‐based practice. You will champion approaches that recognise strengths, preferences, autonomy and lived experience, ensuring support is built with individuals rather than done to them.
You will contribute to care planning processes, helping ensure support arrangements remain proportionate, least restrictive and focused on meaningful outcomes. You will support individuals at risk of placement breakdown, crisis or escalation, helping to create sustainable solutions that improve stability, wellbeing and independence. The role involves close partnership working with social workers, health professionals, housing services, providers and wider partner agencies to ensure coordinated and person‐centred support. You will also provide specialist consultation, advice and training to colleagues, helping promote strengths‐based and person‐centred approaches across the wider service.
Working Hours and Environment
This is a full‐time role working Monday to Friday, typically between 9am and 5pm. The position operates on a hybrid basis, combining office‐based working, community visits and partnership meetings. Approximately two days per week will be spent within the borough, with flexibility around service needs. Travel across the local area is required, although driving is not essential due to excellent public transport accessibility.
