Our client is a fast-paced PE backed global consultancy who is seeking to hire a Financial Controller. The role will suit an ACA/ACCA or CIMA qualified individual who is looking for progression to Finance Director within 12/24 months. The role will take ownership of a £30m business reporting to the CFO. The individual should have experience of working in project-related businesses; specific sector experience isn’t key, it’s the experience of medium-term projects/programmes of works as this role will partner with the Practice Director on project profitability of new and existing projects.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the finance team
- Deliver accurate and timely management information, including monthly management accounts and cashflow reporting
- Partner closely with the Practice to drive strong financial oversight, commercial performance, and operational discipline across programmes, contracts, and client delivery activity
- Lead the continued optimisation and enhancement of finance systems, reporting capability, and ERP functionality (Microsoft Dynamics)
- Develop, implement, and maintain best practice financial policies, controls, and procedures
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process
- Lead the year-end audit process, acting as the primary point of contact for external auditors
- Support the CFO in delivering high-quality financial reporting, including the preparation of monthly management accounts with clear variance analysis
- Provide leadership, direction, and ongoing development to the finance team
- Own the production of accurate and timely management accounts, ensuring integrity of underlying data
- Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns in line with UK regulatory requirements
- Lead cashflow management, including the preparation and maintenance of rolling forecasts
- Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing reforecasting cycles
