Our client is a growing £30m turnover engineering business who seek to hire a progressive Finance Director. The role will suit an up and coming finance professional seeking a role they can make their own, make changes and add real value. The role will manage a small finance team currently consisting of a small team of 3. The business is highly profitable and needs to professionalise the finance function, looking at improving current processes and controls will be key and better linking of contract costs, reporting and analysis of the projects will be another area of focus.

Responsibilities

  • Managing a team of 3
  • Review, prepare and post journals as necessary to close the month (accruals, prepayments, provisions, intercompany etc)
  • Reviewing balance sheet and other reconciliations ensuring the reconciliations are substantiated and understood
  • Producing monthly financial and management reporting within agreed deadlines, with comments and analysis
  • Analytical review and commercial insights on project and contracts
  • Overseeing purchase and sales ledger
  • Supplier and other payments, including subcontractors
  • Payroll including pensions and HMRC
  • VAT returns, CIS Returns and compliance
  • Fixed assets and leases
  • Contract accounting including amounts recoverable on contracts
  • Daily bank balances review and overnight deposits
  • Maintaining credit balances for operating bank accounts
  • Maintaining excellent and productive relationships and communications with key stakeholders internally and externally
  • Liaising with external auditors and providing all relevant information, insights and explanations throughout the annual audit process
