An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Solar Electrician / Lead Solar Electrician to take on a hands-on technical role with leadership, compliance, and system design responsibilities. The primary purpose of this position is to design, install, commission, and maintain solar PV and energy storage systems while supporting installation teams, ensuring compliance, and contributing to customer experience and business growth.
Reporting to the Installation Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Design, install, commission, and maintain residential, commercial, marine, and mobile solar PV and associated electrical systems in line with AS/NZ standards.
- Lead and supervise internal staff and external contractors, including job planning, scheduling, quality control, and sign-off of prescribed electrical work and certification.
- Conduct site audits, system testing, fault finding, and performance monitoring to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant solar installations.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting to customers and contractors, including system programming, commissioning, and after-sales support.
- Support business growth through customer engagement, lead generation, account management, and accurate use of CRM systems, including timely follow-up on enquiries, estimates, and invoicing.
- Champion health & safety, compliance, and continuous improvement by maintaining electrician registration, upskilling team members, and improving installation processes and procedures.
The successful candidate will have:
- Current NZ EWRB Electrician Registration (minimum 2+ years preferred)
- Strong experience installing solar PV systems including panels, inverters, batteries, and AC/DC protection
- Experience or endorsement in Mains Parallel Generation and Grid-Connected PV/Battery Systems
- Sound understanding of AS/NZS electrical and solar compliance standards
- Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and fault-finding skills
- Leadership capability with experience supervising staff or contractors
- Excellent communication skills with a strong customer-first approach
- Full NZ Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel (including the Pacific Islands)
- Confidence working at heights and outdoors with strong H&S awareness
