About the Opportunity

A Full-Time position is available for a Registered Mental Health Nurse at Fulham Correctional Centre. Part‑Time opportunities may be available upon discussion. Reporting to the Health Services Manager, the primary objective of the Registered Mental Health Nurse is to enhance suicide prevention programmes and strategies at the Fulham Correctional Centre.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the standard of nursing practice within the Correctional Centre
  • Develop mental health nursing care plans for prisoners with a P rating
  • Coordinate and undertake physical and mental health assessments on all new receptions entering the Correctional Centre
  • Develop and implement suicide / self‑harm strategies and regularly assess their effectiveness

Salary

Full‑Time $109,452.94 p.a. Part‑Time $52.62 p/h

Skills & Experience

To succeed in the role, you will possess the following:

  • Completed Psychiatric Registered Nurse training
  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Professional post graduate experience as a Psychiatric Nurse
  • Competence in the performance of medical emergency, physical assessment, crisis intervention, medical & psychiatric nursing care and venipuncture preferable
  • Ability to work without direct, immediate supervision in performing psychiatric evaluations
  • Providing appropriate follow‑through treatment

  • Information Technology knowledge and skills relevant to role
