Your Role
An exciting opportunity exists to join the team at Catholic Education Office in the position of Facilities Officer (Groundsperson). This is part‑time continuing role for 15 hours per week (or as negotiated with the successful applicant) commencing as soon as possible. We are seeking applicants who will contribute to the effective and efficient operation and environment of the Catholic Education Office through a high level of personal motivation and initiative in the ongoing maintenance, beautification, and development of the office facilities and grounds.
This role performs daily grounds and maintenance tasks including minor repairs and maintenance of office buildings and surrounds, gardening and grounds beautification and various other tasks as required. Typical duties include but are not limited to:
- Securing grounds and equipment
- Mowing, trimming and fertilising lawns and turf areas
- Repairing and maintaining irrigation systems
- Weeding, planting and fertilising gardens
- Outdoor cleaning and use of high‑pressure water cleaner
- Identify and assist with minor building maintenance – e.g., touch up painting and other minor repairs
- Assembling, moving, and relocating furniture
- Assisting with the set‑up of spaces for events
- Gardening and general caretaking of office buildings and gardens
- Working with other grounds staff, as required
- Rubbish and waste management
- Working with contractors to oversee major repairs and maintenance
About you
The successful applicant will have relevant experience and an understanding of, and a commitment to, the ethos of Catholic Education. In addition, you will have excellent time management skills and well developed interpersonal skills.

Mandatory Requirements
- A current valid Blue Card under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 (WWC Act) and valid Suitability Notice is a requirement of the position
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner
