Our client owns a very well established and highly successful high-end style cafe and they have created a new position for a talented Chef to run their kitchen. The role needs someone who puts their heart and soul into cooking and who is capable of producing the tastiest of food which is well presented.
There are no evenings or split shifts, so this position would suit a Chef who is seeking a good work/life balance. You will be working 5 days per week with Sundays off (except in December when they open on Sundays for Christmas dinners!). The position will suit someone who has successfully worked in a gastro-pub or quality restaurant.
Your new job:- Prepare and cook a wide range of British dishes with attention to detail in terms of taste, presentation, and quality.
- Manage inventory, order supplies, and control food costs.
- Contribute to the development of menus, ensuring they are appealing, diverse, and meet the needs of the customer.
- Waste reduction / portion control.
- Supervise and train junior kitchen staff, ensuring they adhere to quality standards and safety protocols.
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment, following all health and safety regulations.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of food to maintain quality and prevent spoilage.
- Previous experience in a similar role within a high-end cafe, gastro-pub or quality restaurant.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with staff and customers.
- Strong cooking skills and a passion for food.
- A thorough understanding of different ingredients, cooking techniques, and food safety practices.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and to supervise and train others.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of pricing and cost control.
- Starting salary of £28,000 to £30,000 per year. (£14 to £15 per hour).
