We are looking for a Logistics Supervisor to be the reliable presence at the heart of a close-knit depot team in York. As a Logistics Supervisor, you will be the constant, on-site presence that keeps a busy York depot running smoothly. Working to a single, established client contract with a small and settled team of drivers and warehouse staff, your job is to make sure everyone knows what they need to do, and that it gets done safely and on time, every day. You will work closely with the Depot Manager, who currently splits time across another site, which means you will often be the senior person on the ground. The aim is steadiness. The team and the client need to know that whoever is in the building, standards hold, the operation runs, and nothing slips.

Job Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the day-to-day running of the depot across both transport and warehouse activities
  • Making sure drivers and warehouse staff know their tasks for the day and that daily targets are met
  • Supporting daily transport planning, route coordination and allocation of the day's workload
  • Keeping a close eye on vehicle availability and making sure the fleet is used efficiently
  • Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in line with company and client procedures
  • Carrying out regular checks to keep the depot compliant and to a consistent standard
  • Supporting stock control, including stock checks and goods in and goods out
  • Acting as the senior point of contact on site and stepping up to cover the Depot Manager when required
  • Maintaining consistent service levels and keeping the client updated day to day
  • Handling day-to-day issues calmly and resolving them before they disrupt service
  • Supporting the induction and training of any new drivers or warehouse starters
  • Keeping operational records, compliance paperwork and timesheets accurate and up to date
  • Maintaining high housekeeping and operational standards across the site at all times

Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in a transport, warehouse or logistics supervisory role
  • A calm, steady manner with the ability to keep a team focused and a site running under pressure
  • The reliability to be the consistent on-site presence the team and client can depend on
  • The confidence to step up and cover for the Depot Manager when needed
  • A good understanding of transport and warehouse operations with a strong focus on health and safety in a logistics setting
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise the day's workload across a small team
  • The ability to deal with day-to-day problems sensibly and without fuss
  • Sound IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel, and comfort using WMS or transport systems
  • A working knowledge of compliance within transport and logistics
  • You must have your own transport to get to site

Pay and Benefits

  • Salary up to £31,500
  • 40-hour working week across operational hours of 6am to 6pm, with some flexibility
  • Expected hours 9.30am to 6pm
  • A varied, hands-on role where you are trusted to run the site day to day

Ready to apply? This is a role for someone who takes pride in being dependable. Not every job offers the chance to be the person a team and a client genuinely rely on, trusted to keep a whole operation steady and to step in when it matters. If you are an experienced logistics supervisor who would rather be the reliable anchor of a settled depot than chase the next restructure, this is a rare fit and one worth moving quickly on. To take on a Logistics Supervisor role where steadiness is valued and your reliability genuinely counts, apply now.
