As a Field Service Engineer, you’ll cover a regional patch within the UK (M62 Corridor) – no nationwide scrambling, no constant hotel stays. You’ll be the face of the business, servicing, repairing, and installing a high-end range of machinery. There’s no pressure for volume callouts – just quality technical work, backed by optional travel to Europe and training opportunities in Japan. Job Responsibilities
- Install precision machinery including electrical, electronic, and mechanical components to manufacturer specifications
- Diagnose faults and carry out on-site repair work for CNC and metal-cutting machinery
- Order replacement parts and complete repairs in line with technical documentation
- Liaise with the Service Manager on job progress and flag any major customer or technical issues
- Train customers on general machine maintenance to reduce avoidable callouts
- Maintain detailed records and documentation for each machine install or service
- Attend training on new machinery launches to ensure up-to-date product knowledge
- Work independently and manage your own service schedule
- Occasionally travel into Europe if desired (optional – not mandatory)
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience as a Field Service Engineer working on high-precision machinery
- Background in CNC lathes, metal-cutting, or similar equipment essential
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
- Confident with PLC systems and ladder logic
- Able to read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and manuals
- Proven ability to manage your own time and workload on the road
Pay and Benefits
- Salary up to £35,000
- OTE £48,000+ with bonuses
- Monday to Friday – circa 40 hours per week
- Company car (BMW 330e or similar)
- Annual company performance bonus
- Monthly bonus paid per machine sold
- Up to 6% matched pension contribution
