Mechanical Technician

This is a Mechanical Technician role with a growing renewable energy business near Ely, on a four-on, four-off shift pattern.
As a Mechanical Technician you will keep the plant and machinery running across a growing renewable energy operation, working on the equipment that turns organic waste into clean energy.
It is varied, genuinely hands-on work, service, repair, maintenance, installation, fault-finding and inspection, on a four-on, four-off, 12-hour shift pattern.
Be clear on one thing: this is an outdoor role, with up to 90% of your time spent outside across operational plant areas, often at height and in all weathers.
If you are a practical, resilient technician who likes different problems every day and takes pride in keeping things running, no two days here will be the same.
- Job Responsibilities
- Carrying out repairs and maintenance in line with the schedules set by the maintenance managers
- Performing service, repair, maintenance, installation, testing, inspection and fault-finding to a high standard
- Working on motors, engines, augers, conveyors, gearboxes, pneumatics, hydraulics and valves
- Working outdoors and at height across operational plant areas, in all weather conditions
- Operating plant machinery such as tele-handlers and forklifts, with training provided
- Keeping accurate maintenance records using company logging systems on a handheld tablet
- Working safely and to a high standard at all times, adhering to health and safety best practice
- Carrying out ad-hoc duties to keep the operation running smoothly
Skills and Experience
To succeed as a Mechanical Technician you will need
- Proven experience as an all-round industrial or agricultural Mechanical Technician
- Mechanical experience across motors, engines, augers, conveyors, gearboxes, pneumatics, hydraulics and valves
- A strong background in service, repair, maintenance and installation
- Solid fault-finding and investigation skills
- Confidence working at height and outdoors in all weathers
- Experience driving plant machinery
- A full UK driving licence and full right to work in the UK
- A tele-handler or forklift ticket, which is desirable
- Cherry-picker experience, which is desirable
- Welding experience would be an advantage

As a Mechanical Technician you will receive
- A salary of up to £40,000 depending on experience
- A four-on, four-off, 12-hour shift pattern with overtime available
- 6am to 6pm
- 28 days annual leave, including public holidays
