Electrical Technician

This is an Electrical Technician role with a growing renewable energy business near Ely, on a days-only four-on, four-off shift pattern.

As an Electrical Technician you will maintain and improve the electrical systems that keep a growing renewable energy operation running safely and efficiently, working on the plants that turn organic waste into clean energy.

It is a highly varied, hands-on role, from planned preventative maintenance and fault-finding through to installations, testing, inspections and breakdown response.

Be clear on one thing: this is not a desk job.

Up to 90% of your time will be spent outdoors across operational plant areas, often at height and in all weathers.

  • Job Responsibilities
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance in line with maintenance schedules
  • Diagnosing and resolving electrical faults across site systems and equipment
  • Performing electrical repairs, installations, inspections and testing to a high standard
  • Modifying and maintaining control panels
  • Supporting breakdown investigations and returning equipment to service quickly and safely
  • Working on motors, drives, instrumentation, control systems and process equipment
  • Fault-finding on three-phase electrical systems and safety circuits
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records using company logging systems
  • Supporting mechanical maintenance activities where required
  • Working outdoors and at height across operational plant areas, in all weather conditions

Skills and Experience

To succeed as an Electrical Technician you will need

  • Industrial or manufacturing electrical maintenance experience
  • Experience of electrical breakdown repair, maintenance and installation
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostics skills
  • Experience of control panel modification, three-phase systems and safety circuits
  • Experience of motor testing, inverter drives and 4-20m A instrumentation and control signals
  • Good mechanical aptitude and confidence working around plant machinery
  • A full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK

Desirable

  • PLC and I/O fault-finding, SCADA and industrial networks experience is desirable
  • An HNC, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, and City & Guilds 2391 or 2392 is desirable
  • A 16th, 17th or 18th Edition wiring regulations qualification, which is desirable

As an Electrical Technician you will receive
