This Mechanical Fitter position is based at a modern engineering facility in Peterborough, working on the refurbishment, assembly, and maintenance of high-precision industrial machinery. Job Responsibilities
  • Disassemble, refurbish, and reassemble mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment to engineering drawings and specifications
  • Carry out diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on mechanical systems and components
  • Build, align, and test machines as part of workshop projects, ensuring the highest quality standards
  • Support the full life cycle of machinery refurbishment from inspection to commissioning
  • Perform mechanical testing, fault-finding, and pre-delivery verification
  • Maintain an organised, safe, and efficient workspace at all times
Skills and Experience
  • Time-served Mechanical Fitter or completed an engineering apprenticeship (or equivalent experience)
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Strong practical knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics
  • Confident using hand tools, precision measuring equipment, and lifting gear
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a small, skilled engineering team
Pay and Benefits
  • Pay Rate: £19.97 per hour
  • Contract: Long-term temporary (6–8 months) with genuine opportunity to go permanent
  • Hours: Monday to Thursday 7:30am–4:00pm, Friday 7:30am–12:30pm
  • Benefits: Overtime available
