We are seeking a skilled Engineering Manager to oversee our maintenance operations at our Oakham manufacturing facility. This role offers the perfect balance of technical leadership and strategic influence, as you will be responsible for ensuring plant reliability whilst developing a talented team of engineering professionals. With over twenty skilled colleagues under your guidance, you will drive maintenance excellence and continuous improvement across our injection moulding operations.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of over twenty engineering colleagues responsible for maintaining injection moulding machines, automation and ancillary equipment.
- Ensure prompt and effective reactive maintenance response to minimise downtime from unplanned breakdowns.
- Strengthen the planned maintenance programme to optimise equipment availability and reliability.
- Use production data and root cause analysis to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
- Manage maintenance and capital expenditure budgets with careful attention to detail.
- Optimise spare parts procurement and stockholding to balance availability against costs.
- Identify and build business cases for annual capex projects that maintain plant performance.
- Build productive relationships with key suppliers and sub-contractors.
- Oversee the full capex/project lifecycle from procurement through installation to handover.
- Support the ongoing professional development of the engineering team.
Skills and Experience
- Engineering qualification (HND/degree level) with relevant manufacturing experience.
- Proven track record in maintenance management within a production environment.
- Sound technical knowledge of injection moulding processes and automation systems.
- Experience leading engineering teams and developing talent.
- Good understanding of preventative maintenance methodologies.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in root cause analysis.
- Experience managing capital projects from justification to implementation.
- Working knowledge of maintenance management systems.
