This is a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer role where your hands-on ability actually matters. If you enjoy fault-finding, keeping production moving, and being relied upon, this opportunity is built for you. This role sits within a regulated pharmaceutical environment, supporting a multi-line production site operating a late shift. The focus of the role is hands-on engineering — responding to breakdowns, resolving mechanical faults, and ensuring production downtime is kept to an absolute minimum.

The role is predominantly mechanical, with exposure to pneumatics and basic electrical fault finding, and offers structured onboarding, paid overtime, and long-term stability. This is a role for someone who has a ‘no job is too small’ mentality, enjoys being on the tools, problem-solving independently, and taking ownership of engineering issues as they arise.

Job Responsibilities
  • Responding to breakdowns across multiple production lines to minimise downtime
  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults including motors, bearings, shafts, rollers, and drives
  • Carrying out reactive maintenance as the primary focus of the shift
  • Completing planned preventative maintenance tasks where scheduled
  • Fault finding on pneumatic systems
  • Carrying out basic electrical fault finding including fuses, contactors, and drives
  • Supporting machinery set-ups and tooling changes for small batch production runs
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records and GMP documentation
  • Logging work completed and parts usage on the site maintenance system
  • Supporting shift handovers and maintenance planning discussions
  • Contributing to equipment reliability and continuous improvement initiatives
Skills and Experience
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer in a production environment
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding skills within manufacturing or process industries
  • Experience within pharmaceutical, food, or regulated environments preferred
  • Working knowledge of pneumatics systems
  • Basic electrical knowledge
  • Comfortable working in a breakdown-focused, reactive maintenance role
  • Good computer skills for maintenance systems and documentation
  • A proactive, hands-on attitude with a no-job-too-small mindset
  • Strong team ethic suited to a lean engineering function
  • Time-served apprenticeship advantageous but not essential
Pay and Benefits
  • Salary up to £40,000
  • Monday to Friday, 3:00pm – 11:00pm
  • Paid overtime available
  • Overtime paid at x1.5 on Saturdays and x2 on Sundays
  • One Saturday shift in every eight weeks
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Company pension contribution
  • On-site parking
  • Training provided, including initial onboarding on the day shift (07:00am to 15:00pm – there can be flexibility on this)

This role offers stability, responsibility, and genuine technical challenge within a compliant manufacturing environment.
