Recruit-i is delighted to be partnering with a leading industrial manufacturing organisation to recruit an experienced Mechanical Engineer for a highly automated, top-tier process manufacturing facility in the North East. This is an excellent opportunity to become the mechanical technical authority within a complex COMAH-regulated environment, playing a pivotal role in ensuring plant reliability, asset integrity and continuous improvement.
The Role
- Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will take ownership of the site's mechanical systems, supporting safe and reliable plant operations whilst driving engineering excellence.
- Acting as the technical authority for mechanical equipment and rotating assets.
- Improving equipment reliability, asset integrity and maintenance strategies.
- Leading mechanical fault finding, root cause analysis and breakdown investigations.
- Planning and delivering maintenance activities, shutdowns and plant outages.
- Providing mechanical engineering input into capital projects and plant modifications.
- Managing contractors and specialist engineering services.
- Supporting statutory compliance, inspections and mechanical governance.
- Promoting a strong Safety First culture across engineering activities.
- Participating in the site's emergency response rota as Site Main Controller (training provided where required).
Qualifications
- Degree (BEng) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (minimum HNC/HND).
- Proven mechanical engineering experience within a chemical, process or heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
- Experience with rotating equipment and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of reliability engineering and preventative maintenance strategies.
- Familiarity with statutory inspections and pressure systems (PSSR).
- Experience in bioethanol or process manufacturing.
- Condition monitoring and predictive maintenance.
- Contractor and service contract management.
- Passionate about safety and engineering excellence.
- Enjoys solving complex engineering challenges.
