A well-established defence manufacturer in Stockport is looking for a Manufacturing Support Assistant to join its Manufacturing Support team. This is a varied, hands-on support role working alongside Manufacturing Support Engineers to keep a busy production environment running smoothly.

You will be involved in creating and maintaining technical documentation, drawings and process procedures, as well as supporting day-to-day operational needs across the factory floor. An engineering background is an advantage, but what matters most is a sharp eye for detail, good technical aptitude, and a willingness to get stuck in.

The Role

  • Creating and maintaining AutoCAD drawings for cutting tools and factory layouts
  • Generating and manipulating 3D models to support offline programming activity
  • Writing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and operator set-up documentation
  • Producing set-up drawings and supporting imagery as required
  • Reviewing and assisting with operator set-up procedures
  • Ordering tooling for machines and operators
  • Maintaining tooling and fixture drawings
  • Updating routings in SAP, including operation narratives and cycle times
  • Creating and maintaining project plans

Essential Requirements

  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Competent with Microsoft Office suite
  • Good general computer skills
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Reliable, organised and comfortable managing your own workload

Desirable Skills (training available for the right candidate)

  • AutoCAD for 2D drawing creation
  • CAD software for 3D modelling
  • SAP or ERP systems for routing creation and modification
  • MS Project for project planning
  • Familiarity with problem-solving methodologies
