A global engineering manufacturer working within the live events and specialist structures sector is looking to recruit a Procurement Engineer to support project delivery across its UK operations. The role sits within the project and supply chain function, focused on managing procurement activity for materials, outsourced components and third-party services in line with programme, cost and technical requirements.
You’ll take ownership of defined procurement packages, working closely with engineering, project management and suppliers to ensure everything is sourced, delivered and controlled effectively.
Key responsibilities include:- Managing procurement activity for assigned project scopes, including materials and third-party services
- Issuing RFQs/RFPs, reviewing supplier responses and supporting bid evaluation
- Working with engineering and project teams to confirm technical and commercial requirements
- Creating and placing purchase orders, including drawings, specifications and terms
- Managing orders from placement through to delivery and invoice closure
- Expediting orders and resolving delivery or supplier issues
- Leading supplier negotiations to achieve best value and cost savings
- Tracking and reporting procurement spend, savings and project status
- Supporting supplier development and ongoing vendor management
- Identifying risks within supply chain activity and escalating where required
- Experience in a procurement or purchasing role within manufacturing or engineering
- Good understanding of supplier management and competitive tendering
- Ability to analyse cost and negotiate effectively
- Experience using ERP or MRP systems
- Comfortable working across engineering and project teams
- A degree or professional qualification (e.g. CIPS/CPSM) is beneficial but not essential.
- £42,000–£45,000 salary
- Flexible base at either West Yorkshire or Suffolk site
