Responsible Welding Coordinator Location: Stockport Pay: £31.18 per hour + benefits Job Type: Permanent We’re looking for an experienced Responsible Welding Coordinator to take a lead role in maintaining and developing an established Welding Quality Management System within a high-integrity engineering environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified individual to step into a role with real influence across welding coordination, quality assurance, and technical support functions. Please note: Only candidates who meet the following essential criteria will be considered: IWT or EWT qualified Registered with The Welding Institute (TWI) CSWIP 3.1 certified Previous experience in welding coordination In-depth knowledge of MIG/MAG (SMAW) and TIG (GTAW) welding processes Proficient in interpreting technical drawings and documentation Working knowledge of ISO 3834 Experience with external audit activity About the Role You’ll be part of a specialist quality team and act as the Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC) for the site. You’ll be involved in day-to-day welding operations, support new product introductions, ensure compliance with industry standards, and drive continuous improvements in welding processes. This is a broad and hands-on role that spans quality control, documentation, internal audits, and equipment strategy. Key Responsibilities: Ensure welding activities comply with relevant standards and certifications (ISO 3834, EN 1090, DIN 2303) Lead welder qualification testing to BS EN ISO 9606 & 14732 Develop and maintain WPSs and SOPs Plan and manage welding-related work orders in SAP Conduct internal welder audits and manage corrective actions Support root cause analysis and problem-solving (RCCA) Liaise with suppliers on welding capability and compliance Provide technical guidance to engineering and design teams Contribute to plant/equipment selection and welding automation strategy What’s on Offer: 4%/7% matched pension Life assurance and enhanced sick pay Half-day Fridays Generous holiday allowance with long-service rewards Free on-site parking and EV charging Cycle to work scheme Access to employee wellbeing and assistance programmes This is a key role for someone with a structured approach to quality, a passion for welding engineering, and a commitment to maintaining excellence in high-integrity fabrication.
