A long established defence manufacturer is recruiting experienced MIG Welders to support secured military vehicle and equipment programmes. This is hands on, high specification work producing armour and complex welded assemblies for defence platforms, with long term stability and consistent workload.
The role includes:
- MIG welding on armour plate, armoured steel, or aluminium components
- Manufacturing assemblies using jigs and fixtures to engineering drawings and work instructions
- Working to military standards, tight tolerances, and defined quality requirements
- Tack welding using MIG/MAG processes
- Carrying out visual inspection and supporting NDT checks
- Understanding materials behaviour, residual stress, and weld quality on complex assemblies
- Completing work records accurately (SAP or similar MRP systems)
- Maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and environmental compliance
What you’ll need:
- NVQ Level 3 in Welding (or equivalent)
- Proven MIG welding experience within heavy fabrication or manufacturing environments
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, WPS, and welding specifications
- Flexibility to support occasional night shifts when operationally required (enhanced rates apply)
