A global engineering organisation is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to lead complex design activities across automation systems, power transmission equipment, and bespoke engineered solutions. This role suits a highly capable engineer who can manage multiple design phases simultaneously, contribute to technical leadership, and support the development of high performing engineering teams. Although the position has no direct line management, it requires strong leadership behaviours, mentoring capability, and the ability to guide colleagues through technical challenges and project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Innovation: Develop new techniques, processes and documentation across automation, power transmission and bespoke mechanical systems. Maintain awareness of cutting edge technologies and global industry trends.
  • Project Ownership: Lead major project elements or small standalone projects, ensuring delivery against technical, schedule and budget constraints.
  • Complex Problem Solving: Resolve advanced engineering challenges using real world experience in automated machinery, mechanical systems and custom built solutions.
  • Bid Support: Support bids with technical input, risk assessments, concept development.
