We're recruiting a Mechanical Fitter for a globally recognised company in Hemsworth that designs and builds custom staging, set pieces, and stage machinery for the live entertainment industry. You'll be assembling and fitting mechanical systems, predominantly winches, for major tours, concerts, and events worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Assembling mechanical systems including bearings, motors, gearboxes, pulleys, and linear rails
  • Fitting and building winch systems for stage machinery
  • Fitting and aligning moving parts to ensure smooth and safe mechanical function
  • Working from engineering drawings and assembly plans
  • Performing functional testing and basic fault-finding on mechanical systems
  • Conducting quality checks to ensure work meets specifications and safety requirements
  • Using hand tools and precision measuring equipment for mechanical fitting
  • May be used cross‑departmentally on other stage machinery projects as needed

Requirements

  • Proven mechanical fitting experience
  • Hands‑on experience with machine assembly or mechanical builds
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical schematics and assembly drawings
  • Competent with hand tools and precision measuring equipment
  • Understanding of mechanical systems (bearings, gearboxes, drive systems, etc.)
  • Ability to work to tight tolerances and safety standards
  • Winch or rigging experience is a significant advantage but not essential – general mechanical fitting capability is the priority.
