We are representing a precision engineering business operating within a project-based, special-purpose build environment. Due to increased demand across ongoing technical programmes, positions are now available for CNC Setters (Milling or Turning) to join a multi-disciplinary manufacturing team producing tight-tolerance components for complex mechanical assemblies. These roles are intended for individuals who are committed to developing their skillset and progressing into CNC programming as part of their long-term career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Setting and operating CNC mills or lathes (multi-axis).
  • Producing precision components to tight engineering tolerances.
  • Carrying out in-process inspection using micrometres, bore gauges and callipers.
  • Adjusting tooling, offsets and machining parameters to maintain accuracy.
  • Interpreting complex technical drawings, including GD&T.
  • Working collaboratively with engineering and quality teams across bespoke build projects.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised work area.
  • Undertaking structured training with the expectation of progressing to CNC programming duties.

Shift Pattern & Pay

  • Double Day Shift: 06:00–14:00 / 14:00–22:00 (weekly rotation)
  • Rate: £15–£16 per hour
  • Overtime and additional benefits available.

Ideal Background

  • Proven experience setting either CNC mills or lathes.
  • Experience working with Fanuc controls.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
  • Background in one-off or low-volume precision machining environments.
  • A clear desire and commitment to progress into CNC programming.
  • Manual machining experience advantageous but not essential.
