A long‑established engineering manufacturer is looking for a Swaging Operative to join its specialist production team. The company designs and manufactures critical safety‑related mechanical systems for the global aerospace sector and offers long‑term stability with strong order books.
The role involves working within the manufacturing cell to produce, assemble and test components in line with defined engineering and quality standards. The position is centred on swaging end fittings, manufacturing high‑pressure hoses, and ensuring all assemblies meet the required specifications.
Key responsibilities:- Swaging end fittings in accordance with process specifications and completing proof‑load testing
- Manufacturing high‑pressure hoses and cable assemblies: selecting materials, cutting to length, attaching fittings and applying heat‑shrink to PS417 standards
- Operating crimping and assembly machinery, gauges and hand tools
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, work instructions and build plans
- Completing self‑inspection and quality checks
- Working safely and following H&S, COSHH and quality procedures
- Supporting 5S and continuous improvement activities
- Assisting with general assembly tasks when required
- Essential: Background in manufacturing or engineering
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Confident using hand tools and basic measuring equipment
- Strong attention to detail and good manual dexterity
- Able to work independently and within a team
- Experience in swaging, crimping or hose assembly
- Desirable: Experience with drilling, riveting or adhesives
- SAP knowledge
- Mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent training
