Overview

Assembly Operative – Sub-Assembly – Location: Denham | Salary: Β£29,000 – Β£30,000 per annum | Hours: 37 hours per week

Monday-Thursday: 08:00-17:00
Friday: 08:00-12:00

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, fit, and inspect mechanical components and sub-assemblies to high standards.
  • Accurately interpret and work from engineering drawings, build instructions, and specifications.
  • Follow all departmental procedures to maintain quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Perform self-inspection and quality checks in line with company and industry standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are safe, serviceable, and properly stored.
  • Handle all materials and components with care to avoid damage or safety hazards.
  • Report any unsafe practices, hazards, or defective equipment immediately.
  • Engage in training and adopt new processes as required.
  • Contribute to a clean, safe, and well-organized working environment.
  • Typical assembly tasks include: bench fitting and detailed mechanical assembly work; installation of inserts, locking pins, adhesives, and threaded components; jig drilling, taper reaming, thread locking, crimping, and both manual and mechanical riveting.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and work instructions.
  • Working knowledge of health & safety regulations and COSHH.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, measuring instruments, and mechanical assembly techniques.
  • Basic computer skills; familiarity with SAP is an advantage.
  • An engineering apprenticeship is desirable, though not essential.
