Assembly Operative β Sub-Assembly β Location: Denham | Salary: Β£29,000 β Β£30,000 per annum | Hours: 37 hours per week
Monday-Thursday: 08:00-17:00
Friday: 08:00-12:00
Responsibilities
- Assemble, fit, and inspect mechanical components and sub-assemblies to high standards.
- Accurately interpret and work from engineering drawings, build instructions, and specifications.
- Follow all departmental procedures to maintain quality, safety, and efficiency.
- Perform self-inspection and quality checks in line with company and industry standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S and lean manufacturing practices.
- Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are safe, serviceable, and properly stored.
- Handle all materials and components with care to avoid damage or safety hazards.
- Report any unsafe practices, hazards, or defective equipment immediately.
- Engage in training and adopt new processes as required.
- Contribute to a clean, safe, and well-organized working environment.
- Typical assembly tasks include: bench fitting and detailed mechanical assembly work; installation of inserts, locking pins, adhesives, and threaded components; jig drilling, taper reaming, thread locking, crimping, and both manual and mechanical riveting.
Qualifications
- Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and work instructions.
- Working knowledge of health & safety regulations and COSHH.
- Proficiency with hand tools, measuring instruments, and mechanical assembly techniques.
- Basic computer skills; familiarity with SAP is an advantage.
- An engineering apprenticeship is desirable, though not essential.
