The Opportunity
Join the major projects division of a leading national main contractor, renowned for delivering large-scale residential developments including student accommodation and Build-to-Rent (BTR) schemes. Working on a flagship project in Leeds city centre, we are expanding our team and seeking a Design Manager to take ownership of the project through site delivery. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping landmark developments while advancing your career with a contractor that values innovation, collaboration, and professional growth.
The Role
- Work on the design management process through delivery
- Manage the flow of design information, conduct design-gap reviews, and drive value engineering proposals
- Collaborate with project teams, clients, designers, and subcontractors to achieve optimal design solutions
- Ensure regional resources are aligned to project requirements
- Deliver designs and sequences that prioritise safety while maximising profit opportunities
- Oversee consultant appointments, scopes of service, and responsibility matrices
- Chair and attend design team meetings, ensuring timely release of quality information in line with contractual obligations
- Produce technical information for pre-qualification presentations
- Coach and train on-site management in design management techniques
- Hold and minute subcontractor meetings, ensuring clear communication and accountability
