This is an opportunity to join the major projects division of a national main contractor that are specialists in large residential developments from major student accommodation schemes to BTR developments. With a new project in Leeds city centre, the business is looking to expand its team and requires a Design Manager working on Pre-Construction phases initially and then take the job on to site.

You should be a Design Manager with experience of working on large design & build projects with a main contractor.

The Role:

  • Lead the Design Management of the project.
  • Manage the flow of design information, conduct design-gap reviews, develop value engineering proposals and to risk-manage the design development process.
  • Work with the project teams, clients, designers and subcontractors to ensure optimal design solutions are employed.
  • Ensure that there is sufficient regional resource to adequately cover our requirements.
  • Deliver a design and sequence that can be delivered safely and maximise profit opportunities.
  • Design gap analysis.
  • Consultant appointments including, Scope of services, Matrix of responsibilities etc.
  • Attend and chair Design Team Meetings to ensure the timely flow and release of quality information and to ensure that this information is in line with our contractual obligations.
  • Produce technical information for company pre-qualification presentations.
  • Train and coach the on-site management in design management techniques.
  • Attend meetings as required at the site and area offices - Hold, chair, and minute sub-contractor meetings.
