Are you an experienced Toolmaker who enjoys producing and repairing precision tooling from engineering drawings? Our client is looking for a Tool Room Engineer / Toolmaker to join their experienced engineering team in South Normanton. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a well-equipped tool room, manufacturing new tooling while also repairing, servicing, and modifying existing tooling to support production.

Working predominantly with manual machinery, you'll be responsible for maintaining high standards of precision while supporting the continued efficiency of the manufacturing operation.

As the new Tool Room Engineer / Toolmaker, you will:

  • Manufacture new tooling from engineering drawings
  • Repair, service, and modify existing tooling as required
  • Operate manual milling machines, centre lathes, surface grinders, and cylindrical grinders
  • Use EDM spark erosion equipment and CNC milling machinery where required
  • Read and interpret technical and engineering drawings accurately
  • Inspect finished tooling to ensure quality and accuracy
  • Support production with tooling breakdowns and urgent repairs
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe tool room environment
  • Work closely with production and engineering teams to minimise downtime

Main Requirements for This Role:

  • Previous experience within a Tool Room or Toolmaking environment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Experience manufacturing, repairing, and maintaining production tooling
  • Strong machining skills using manual tool room equipment
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience operating EDM spark eroders
  • Experience using CNC milling machines
  • Precision engineering or manufacturing background
