Our client in Derby is looking to recruit a hands-on Service & Maintenance Technician to join its engineering team. This is a varied role combining machinery assembly, servicing, calibration, fault-finding, and customer support both on-site and at customer locations across the UK. Working within a fast-paced production environment, you will support the build, maintenance, and continuous improvement of specialist production equipment while ensuring high standards of quality and safety are maintained.

This position would suit someone from a maintenance, service engineering, machinery build, or manufacturing background who enjoys practical, varied engineering work.

As the new Service & Maintenance Technician, you will:

  • Assemble and test specialist production machinery and equipment
  • Carry out mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic repairs and servicing
  • Visit customer sites across the UK to complete servicing, calibration, and repair work
  • Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs to minimise downtime
  • Maintain technical records, calibration information, and engineering documentation
  • Monitor and manage spare parts stock levels
  • Process equipment repairs and coordinate delivery schedules
  • Support continuous improvement and machinery upgrade projects
  • Respond to technical enquiries from customers via telephone and email
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with Health & Safety and Quality procedures

Requirements for this role:

  • Previous experience in maintenance, service engineering, machinery assembly, or manufacturing engineering
  • Time-served engineering apprenticeship OR HNC/HND in Engineering preferred
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English
  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
  • Knowledge of pneumatics and industrial machinery
  • Basic PLC knowledge would be advantageous
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Good practical workshop and bench fitting skills
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK are essential for this role

This is a full-time permanent role based in Derby. You will occasionally go out to client sites to service and support existing machinery.
