Power Electronics Engineer (junior or mid-level) BRIEF OVERVIEW – Role: Power Electronics Engineer – Location: Hertfordshire – Role type: Permanent – Salary: £35k-£50k DOE Recruit 12 has an exciting opportunity for a Power Electronics Engineer to join a specialised engineering firm, focusing on the design, manufacture and testing of high-value, low-volume electronic products. They prioritise quality and efficiency according to the best engineering standards across all project stages. Please note: This role is not able to support sponsorships, so only candidates who have the full rights to work in the UK with no restrictions will be considered. RESPONSIBILITIES – Manage design projects to meet specifications and budget requirements – Collaborate with Sales to align technical requirements and capabilities – Support Production with technical input to enhance manufacturing and testing efficiency – Ensure design compliance with company standards, customer specifications and legislation – Generate and approve system-level block diagrams, schematics, and PCB layouts – Conduct simulations, component analysis, and data pack generation – Develop and validate Acceptance Test Procedures – Support production through troubleshooting and debugging – Oversee component library management REQUIRED SKILLS – Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field – Basic power electronics design principles (e.g. DC/DC converters, inverters, or power supplies) – Familiarity with schematic capture, PCB layout tools, and basic hardware debugging skills – Experience using simulation software like MATLAB, Simulink, or LTSPICE DESIRABLE (NOT ESSENTIAL) – Exposure to GaN or SiC devices in design or testing environments – EMC/EMI awareness – Experience with tools like SolidWorks or Altium
