We are seeking an experienced High Voltage Battery Engineer with hands-on expertise in EV and/or BESS battery systems. This is a practical, site-based engineering role focused on the diagnosis, repair, safe isolation, dismantling, and handling of high-voltage lithium-ion battery systems (400V–1000V+ DC). You will operate as the HV technical authority on site, ensuring safety, compliance, and best practice across all projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, dismantle, and rework lithium-ion battery packs used in EVs and BESS units
- Carry out safe isolation and discharge of HV systems (typically 400V–1000V+ DC)
- Identify faults at cell, module, pack, and BMS level within containerised and cabinet-based BESS systems
Essential Requirements
High Voltage Battery Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ hands-on experience working with high-voltage lithium-ion battery systems
- Direct experience with EV battery packs and/or BESS units
- Proven ability to diagnose, repair, or dismantle HV battery systems
- Experience working under formal HV safety rules and permit-to-work systems
Technical Knowledge
Strong understanding of:
- Lithium-ion battery architecture (cell / module / pack)
- Battery Management Systems (BMS)
- HV isolation, testing, and fault-finding
- Containerised and cabinet-based BESS architectures
- IEC, BS EN, and ISO 45001 standards
Desirable
- Experience working with large-scale BESS units
- HV Authorised Person (AP) status or equivalent
- Background in recycling or end-of-life processing of EV or BESS batteries
