I'm currently recruiting for a well-established construction business based around the Boston Spa area who are looking to bring in an experienced Project Manager / Working Foreman as the company continues to grow. The business carries out a mixture of residential and commercial work across Yorkshire, currently around 60% residential and 40% commercial, although the long-term plan is to continue growing the commercial side of the business. This is very much a hands-on, non-corporate environment.
They are looking for somebody experienced, practical and capable of running projects properly without needing layers of management around them. The owner is keen to speak to people who have maybe previously run their own construction business, operated as a senior Working Foreman, Site Manager or Project Manager and are now looking for the stability of working within a good business long term.
The role would suit somebody who:
- Knows construction inside out
- Is comfortable managing trades and subcontractors
- Can deal with clients professionally
- Sees problems early and sorts them
- Takes pride in running tidy, organised jobs
- Doesn't need babysitting
This is not a role for somebody wanting a heavily process-driven corporate environment. They want somebody practical, calm and experienced who can just get on with the job properly.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing day-to-day site activity
- Coordinating subcontractors and trades
- Keeping projects moving to programme
- Liaising with clients and suppliers
- Maintaining quality standards on site
- Managing health
