About this role

The Heigham Community Federation has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join our thriving team and help us to support children’s learning and development through a holistic and inquiry‑based approach.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a whole class in the short‑term absence of a teacher, covering on a planned, ad‑hoc or unplanned basis.
  • Be based at Recreation Road Infant School, working across the infant phase; may be deployed across the primary phase in future years.
  • Prepare and deliver small group learning activities, supporting monitoring and assessment alongside the class teacher.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Recent experience working in the infant phase, and fully prepared to work in all primary age groups.
  • Good numeracy/literacy skills.
  • NVQ 3 or equivalent in teaching assistance or proven experience.
  • Ability to work with children with additional needs and support them through tailored group work and nurture.
  • Can use their own initiative.
  • Good communication skills, with children and adults.
  • Contagious enthusiasm for learning and practice that engages children by stimulating imagination and curiosity.
  • Highly resilient and shows a proactive, solution‑focused approach to personal and professional development.
  • Can act effectively as part of a team.
  • Brings a strong work ethic, proven teamwork and an excellent sense of humour to our vibrant school community.
