We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Recovery Navigator to join our Dorset-based substance misuse service, with a specific focus on Health Improvement. This is your chance to be part of a dynamic and compassionate team that supports individuals at all stages of their recovery journey—from harm reduction to structured treatment and beyond. If you are passionate about health equity, recovery, and community care, we want to hear from you.

As a Health Improvement Recovery Worker, you will provide vital health improvement support alongside our clinical partners. This includes helping to deliver community alcohol detoxes, conducting home visits, and offering ongoing recovery support. You will be a key player in engaging service users with recovery pathways, providing psychosocial interventions, and linking them to community-based resources that enhance health and wellbeing.

As a Health Improvement Recovery Worker, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing a caseload of service users and delivering a range of psychosocial interventions.
  • Working autonomously as well as collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Conducting risk assessments, recovery planning, and referrals to internal and external services.
  • Facilitating group sessions tailored to the diverse needs of individuals in treatment.
  • Supporting clinical teams with community alcohol detoxes, including follow-up visits.
  • Engaging with at-risk clients as part of the Reach team, focusing on Blood Borne Virus (BBV) testing and treatment referrals.
  • Distributing and providing training on Naloxone to service users to support harm reduction.

We are seeking someone who is:

  • Motivated, with a strong belief in the potential for recovery at any stage.
  • Experienced in supporting people with substance misuse issues, ideally with health improvement or detox-related work.
  • Skilled in communication, risk management, and delivering person-centred support.
  • Confident facilitating groups and working independently in the community.
  • Comfortable with home visits and flexible in their approach to meet client needs.

Please note: This is Dorset wide and will require some travel. This is a full-time and permanent position which can be based in one of our three hubs in Weymouth, Wimborne or Gillingham. As part of the role, you will be responsible for the Harm Reduction vehicle, and therefore will require a clear full UK driving license.

Join our team at Waythrough and support people facing challenges around mental health, substance use, housing or domestic abuse. This is more than just a job – it’s a chance to build meaningful relationships and create lasting change.

We value the people who make a difference every day. Alongside meaningful work, you will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package: 27 days' annual leave, rising to 32 after 1 year.
