Overview
Recovery Support Volunteer – Duty Support. Location: Weymouth. Timing: approximately 8 hours per week. Exact hours are flexible and discussed at interview.

Waythrough aims to help people live safer, healthier, more independent lives.
This role supports people facing challenges around mental health, substance use, housing or domestic abuse.
REACH Drug and Alcohol Service is the commissioned community drug and alcohol provision for Devon, providing support, interventions and treatments for those wanting to make positive changes to their drug and/or alcohol use, as well as raising awareness and supporting family members.
Responsibilities
- Recovery Support Volunteers can be involved in various aspects of service delivery; front-line, client-facing work with potential focus on a specific area (e. g., group work or Duty support) or a mix of tasks.
- Support people engaged in their Recovery Plan goals with Together.
- Facilitate structured and unstructured group work programmes, both virtually and face-to-face.
- Support and empower individuals to engage in recovery activities, including those provided by Together and the wider community.
- Conduct welfare and check-in phone calls.
- Be the first point of contact for individuals, professionals, or family members and take referrals as appropriate.
- Provide Brief Interventions, including those focused around harm reduction.
- Use Halo (internal case management system) to document sessions and support the team with updates and audits.
- Identify and report any concerns or risks to the Duty staff or Duty Manager.
- Potential to offer 1-1 support to individuals and manage a small caseload from assessment through ongoing recovery support, once confident and competent with supervision.

- Good IT and written communication skills.
- Non-judgmental attitude toward people facing challenges related to drug/alcohol use and/or mental health.
- Confident to contact people by email or phone; good time management.
- Team player with ability to work on own initiative and follow instruction.

- Ability to maintain professional boundaries, adhere to Waythrough policies and media guidelines, engage in supervision, and complete relevant training.
