About the role
We are recruiting an ATR / DRR Recovery Coordinator to join our Criminal Justice Team at County Durham Drug & Alcohol Service. Our team supports individuals experiencing problematic substance use, strengthening pathways into treatment for those affected by opiate, non-opiate and alcohol use. In this role, you will manage a caseload of service users subject to court-ordered Alcohol Treatment Requirements (ATRs) and Drug Rehabilitation Requirements (DRRs), providing tailored and intensive support to help individuals make positive, lasting changes. You will work closely with partners including Probation, Prison and Courts to deliver effective, joined-up care.
- Act as a key point of contact for Courts, Probation and Criminal Justice partners
- Deliver tailored support from brief interventions through to structured treatment
- Provide intensive, regular support to individuals on ATRs and DRRs to achieve recovery goals
- Manage recovery planning and case management across all stages of the recovery journey
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to deliver holistic care
- Support individuals to reduce harm, reoffending and relapse
- Follow safeguarding procedures to identify and manage risk
- Deliver psychosocial interventions and structured programmes
- Contribute to service delivery, including drug screening, harm reduction and needle exchange
- Take a whole-person approach, supporting wider wellbeing beyond substance use
- Promote recovery and peer support opportunities
- Co-work with Probation and attend offsite locations when required
- Complete suitability assessments and court reports for ATRs and DRRs
What you will need
To be successful in this role, you will bring a combination of relevant experience, skills and a passion for supporting individuals in recovery:
- NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent), or a willingness to work towards this
- Experience delivering 1:1 and group interventions, ideally within substance misuse or a related field
- Knowledge of recovery planning, risk assessment and case management
- Understanding of evidence-based interventions such as Motivational Interviewing (MI), CBT, PSIs or ITEP
- Confidence working with individuals with complex needs, including those involved in the criminal justice system
- Ability to work collaboratively with partner agencies such as probation, courts and healthcare professionals
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport
- Good IT skills, including experience using case management systems and Microsoft Office
- An understanding of safeguarding, risk management and harm reduction approaches
- A flexible approach to work, including the ability to work across sites and occasional evenings/weekends
Desirable:
- Relevant qualification in addiction, counselling, social work or a related field
- Experience working with families, carers or within community-based services
- Knowledge of best practice frameworks (e.g. NICE guidelines)
