Complex Needs Practitioner – Gambling
£27,341 – £29,500 per annum
Full-time, Permanent, 37 hours per week

Summary

Practitioners will provide holistic support for individuals affected by gambling-related issues. This includes both those struggling with their own gambling and individuals impacted by someone else\’s. The role aims to empower people using a person-centred approach, helping them reduce risk, build resilience, and achieve positive outcomes.

You will see clients face to face at NatWest\’s banks and other locations within Staffordshire.

Practitioners will work flexibly across the community and within multi-agency partnership settings on an outreach basis. Please note: there is support, supervision, and line management will be provided remotely. This is important to highlight for applicants seeking a team or office-based working environment.

A key aspect of the role involves working not just with individuals, but also with families and community networks to address a range of wellbeing needs. This may include physical and emotional health, employment, domestic abuse, exploitation, family relationships, and other complex factors.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build supportive relationships with people and families experiencing gambling-related harms.
  • Manage a caseload of complex cases using a case coordination approach.
  • Maintain accurate case records and complete administrative tasks in line with data protection policies.
  • Develop co-produced, holistic support plans based on personal strengths and goals.
  • Coordinate support from other services to ensure timely and appropriate intervention.
  • Participate in clinical case reviews and safeguarding discussions.
  • Promote access to wider treatment and support options.

Client Work Responsibilities

You will engage individuals in a variety of person-centred interventions aimed at improving choice and control in their lives. These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Social Network approaches.

Key tasks include:

  • Supporting individuals from first contact through to after-care.
  • Conducting screening, assessments, and delivering psychosocial interventions.
  • Creating and reviewing risk management and safeguarding plans.
  • Supporting access to multi-agency services, including family and community-based resources.
  • Contributing to positive outcomes around health, wellbeing, relationships, and social functioning.
  • Applying the \”No Wrong Door\” principle by helping people engage with other services as appropriate.
  • Responding effectively to safeguarding concerns and participating in relevant meetings (e.g., Child Protection, Adult Safeguarding, Complex Case Panels).

General Responsibilities

  • Embrace and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of the role.
  • Maintain awareness of developments in gambling harm, substance use, and local community needs.
  • Represent Aquarius professionally and promote its mission.
  • Participate in regular supervision, appraisals, and training.
  • Accurately record data for evaluation and reporting.
  • Be flexible with working hours, including evenings and occasional weekends as required.
  • Travel across Staffordshire and beyond for service delivery, training, and events.

Terms and Conditions

  • Salary: £27,341 – £29,500 per annum (starting at entry point).
  • Contract: Full-time, permanent (37 hours/week). Part-time applicants will be considered.
  • Holiday: 40 days (including 8 bank holidays).
  • Pension: Access to a contributory pension scheme.
  • Location: Outreach-based across Staffordshire.
