Responsibilities
- Concept generation and product design for HID Global’s Access IS BU, including identity document readers, validators, ticket readers, RFID, NFC, QR code readers and contactless payment devices.
- 3D CAD design using Siemens Solid Edge, rapid prototyping, jig design, material and component selection, 2D technical drawing, BOM generation, engineering change notifications and ERP checks (Oracle, Agile).
- Design development for mass production, efficient assembly and product verification.
- Collaboration with cross‑functional teams (project management, hardware, marketing, manufacturing, quality) to document development processes and maintain records in line with the quality system.
- Prototype building and evaluation to verify design fit for purpose, with flexibility to update designs based on test performance data.
- Follow product design specifications, provide deliverables within project timelines and stay current with emerging processes, technologies and materials.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years’ work experience in a similar product design role.
- Mechanical or product design qualification (BSc, BEng, MSc, etc.).
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Solid Edge, Solid Works, NX) and modern product design processes (injection moulding, rapid prototyping).
- Experience designing electronics assemblies, wiring looms, machined/stamped metal components, gaskets, glass components.
- Strong written and spoken English and excellent problem‑solving skills.
- Team player, motivated, intuitive and analytical.
- Full‑time availability, hybrid working model, and legal eligibility to work in the UK.
Preferred:
- Previous Solid Edge experience and demonstrable work skills.
Work requirement:
- Compliance with HID Global policies; ability to travel internationally and hold a valid passport.
