Sussex Estate Care is a well-established commercial gardening company revolutionising grounds maintenance standards throughout West Sussex. We are not a typical commercial Grounds Maintenance employer; we treat our staff with respect and value their contributions. Our team consists of 8 employees, some of whom have been with us since the beginning, bringing wisdom, experience, and great camaraderie, which is key to our happy workforce and future success.

About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Grounds Maintenance Operative. If you have a keen eye for detail, enjoy the outdoors, and are willing to get stuck in, we want to hear from you! Experience is preferred but not essential, as we provide training.
You will be available to work Monday to Friday from 7:00 to 16:30, with some flexibility due to seasonal demands. Overtime is available, and during winter months, we aim to finish at 15:45 to ensure everyone gets home before dark. As a mobile grounds maintenance team, we cover 3-5 sites a day, so a full UK driving licence is essential, preferably clean. A DBS check will be required, but we will assist with this process.
Responsibilities
- Carry out pedestrian/ride-on grass mowing to a high standard
- Use a strimmer/brush cutter to achieve desired results
- Basic knowledge of shrub/border maintenance
- Hedge cutting to client specifications
- Leaf blowing/collection in autumn and winter
- Maintain all machinery, vehicles, and work equipment in good working order
- Weed spraying – training will be provided if you do not have your pesticide ticket (PA6/PA1)
- General grounds maintenance duties

Salary & Rewards
