About the role
Numbers only matter when they change what happens next - and that’s exactly where you come in. As our Performance & Insight Analyst, you’ll be the person who turns a busy, fast-moving returns operation into a clear story people can act on, spotting the trends, sizing the opportunities and steering better decisions across the operation. This is a role with real influence and real visibility. One day you’re building the dashboards and performance packs that everyone relies on; the next you’re digging into a performance issue to find the root cause, quantifying a cost-saving opportunity, or presenting your findings to senior stakeholders and customers. You’ll partner with teams right across Operations, Finance, Technology, Planning and Commercial - and you’ll get to see your recommendations become genuine, measurable improvements. If you love working with data, telling the story behind it and using it to actually make things better, you’ll feel right at home here.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Turning data into insight
- Building and looking after the reporting, dashboards and performance packs that give everyone visibility of how we’re doing
- Spotting the trends, patterns, opportunities and risks in our operational data, and keeping an eye on the KPIs, SLAs and commercial metrics that matter
- Turning complex data into clear, meaningful recommendations - and presenting them confidently to teams, senior stakeholders and customers
- Driving improvement
- Getting to the root of performance challenges and working with operational teams on the fixes
- Tracking those improvements all the way through to delivery, and measuring the difference they make
- Challenging the way things are done with fact-based, evidence-led thinking, and championing a data-driven culture
- Unlocking commercial value
- Helping the Contract Manager get under the skin of performance, cost drivers and commercial opportunities
- Quantifying and tracking cost savings and productivity gains, and building the models that show the value we’ve delivered
- Supporting business cases for improvement projects, and flagging anything that could affect profitability
- Looking ahead
- Comparing forecast against actual performance to sharpen our planning and resourcing
- Spotting future risks, bottlenecks and opportunities before they land, and supporting labour, capacity and customer planning
- Providing the forward-looking insight that keeps us ready and one step ahead
- Being the trusted voice
- Producing sharp, insightful content for our Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Quarterly Business Reviews and customer governance meetings
- Building strong relationships across the business and becoming the go-to source of insight
- Explaining data and trends in a way that helps non-technical colleagues and customers make confident decisions
What we need from you
Your skills & experience
- A genuine passion for data and a real knack for turning it into clear, actionable insight
- Strong analytical skills, ideally with hands-on experience of reporting and dashboards (for example Excel, Power BI or SQL)
- Experience analysing operational and/or commercial performance, ideally in a fast-paced logistics, warehousing or returns environment
- A track record of using data to drive continuous improvement and deliver measurable results
The kind of person you are
- A natural storyteller who can make numbers make sense to any audience
- Curious, rigorous and happy to challenge the status quo when the evidence points that way
- A strong communicator and relationship-builder, comfortable working with everyone from operational teams to senior leaders and customers
- Commercially aware, organised, and genuinely energised by making things better
