About the role
You’ll be the friendly, reliable face our customers come to know and trust, the person who keeps things moving behind the scenes, and the link that holds our internal teams and customers together. The main purpose of this role is to provide outstanding customer service to improve customer satisfaction and relationship. Handle and resolve customer complaints/inquiries via mail or phone in a timely and accurate manner. Coordinate, analyse and improve customer service functions to meet company goals. No two days look quite the same. One moment you’re on a call sorting a query, the next you’re booking in deliveries, checking stock or pulling together the numbers that show how an account is really performing. You’ll get to know your customers inside out, attend their visits and meetings (on-site, off-site and over the phone), and make sure everyone internally has the clear, concise instructions they need to deliver brilliantly.
- Being the go-to contact for your customers, keeping them in the loop, passing on anything useful to the General Manager, and flagging any issues early before they become problems.
- Keeping an eye on how the account is performing, pulling together the monthly reports and sharing the headlines with the Contract Manager.
- Working with carriers, transport companies and customers to book in delivery slots with our Goods In team.
- Getting orders out the door, raising despatch notes, despatching stock and making sure our stock records stay accurate.
- Getting to know how stock moves through the site, from arrival all the way to delivery.
- Making sure everything’s invoiced correctly so customers are billed accurately.
- Looking after stock control and keeping our stock files spot-on, with goods-in figures logged promptly.
- Spotting chances to grow the account, working alongside the Customer Service Manager.
- Always looking for ways to make the customer experience a little better.
- Helping out other teams with any customer-related questions, and keeping things running smoothly with the planning team.
What we need from you
- A natural communicator who’s just as confident in writing as on the phone.
- A background in customer service.
- Organised, accurate, and happy to make a decision and back yourself.
- Driven to hit your targets, and the sort of person who spots what needs doing and gets on with it.
- A real team player who builds good relationships with people inside and outside the business.
- You’re comfortable with Microsoft Office.
- Some experience in 3PL or a multi-client operation would be advantageous.
