About the role
As a Product Manager | Lending, you will be at the forefront of transforming the way SMEs access funding. You will lead cross-functional teams to discover, design and deliver new or improved lending products and enable faster, better, more transparent lending decisions for our customers. You will work closely with senior business stakeholders, and help shape the product roadmap, ensuring our products meet customer needs, comply with regulatory standards, and drive business growth.
You will be reporting to the Head of Product, and will help establish a world-class product team and shape how we approach product discovery and delivery. You’ll implement best practices from the technology, banking and fintech industries, ensuring our product development processes are agile, efficient, and customer focused.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and communicate a clear, compelling product vision, strategy, and roadmap for lending products.
- Conduct market research, customer discovery, and competitor analysis to understand customer/broker pain points and identify opportunities.
- Discovery & Delivery
- Lead end-to-end product development from ideation through launch and optimisation.
- Map lending journeys to identify customer pain points and process inefficiencies, delivering enhancements to improve user experience.
- Translate business requirements into clear product specifications and collaborate cross-functionally to design effective solutions.
- Prioritise features and enhancements based on customer impact, business value, and technical feasibility.
- Lead cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products efficiently.
- Work with the ExCo and senior leadership to develop and improve lending products and expand distribution channels.
- Partner with technology and business teams (e.g., marketing, sales, credit, operations) to deliver product, platform, and process enhancements.
- Collaborate with risk, compliance, and legal teams to manage risk and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Performance & Optimisation
- Monitor KPIs to track product performance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Conduct Post Implementation Reviews (PIRs) and periodic reviews to ensure good customer outcomes and regulatory compliance.
- Corporate Responsibilities
- Follow all relevant company policies and procedures.
- Adhere to risk management responsibilities outlined in the Risk Management Policy.
- Comply with all financial crime, compliance, and reporting obligations relevant to the role.
Required Skills & Experience
- 4+ years’ experience in Product within banking or fintech, with a focus on property lending.
- Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams to launch and scale products that solve customer problems and deliver measurable business outcomes.
- In-depth understanding of customer and broker needs in the specialist property lending market, including Bridging, Commercial, and BTL mortgages.
- Experience collaborating with commercial, credit, and operational teams to deliver seamless lending experiences.
- Experience working in regulated environments, ensuring compliance with Consumer Duty and other relevant regulations.
- Familiarity with banking platforms such as Mambu, nCino, or similar systems.
