Reco Hoist Ltd is looking for a reliable and experienced Workshop Hoist Fitter to join our team at our St Ives, Cambridgeshire facility.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, servicing, maintenance, repair and preparation of construction hoists and associated equipment.

This is a hands‑on workshop‑based position where safety, quality and attention to detail are essential.

You will work closely with our engineering, operations and hire teams to ensure equipment is maintained to a high standard and ready for safe deployment to construction sites throughout the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, service, maintain and repair construction hoists and associated equipment.
  • Prepare hoists and components for upcoming projects and site installations.
  • Carry out mechanical fitting, repairs and component replacement.
  • Assist with electrical fault finding and repairs where suitably trained and competent.
  • Inspect and prepare mast sections, ties, landing equipment, gates and other hoist components.
  • Identify damaged, worn or defective equipment and report any issues requiring further action.
  • Complete workshop inspection, maintenance and repair documentation accurately.
  • Ensure equipment is prepared in accordance with company procedures and manufacturers' requirements.
  • Assist with loading and unloading equipment when required.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.
  • Follow Reco Hoist Ltd's health, safety, environmental and quality procedures at all times.
  • Work effectively with other members of the workshop, engineering and operations teams.
  • Carry out other reasonable duties associated with the preparation and maintenance of the company's hoist fleet.

Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will have

  • Previous mechanical fitting, plant maintenance or engineering experience.
  • Experience with construction hoists, mast climbing equipment or similar construction plant would be an advantage.
  • Good mechanical knowledge and practical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify faults and carry out repairs to a high standard.
  • Good understanding of workplace health and safety.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good attention to detail and pride in the quality of completed work.
  • Reliable and professional approach to work.
  • Forklift experience/licence would be advantageous.
  • Electrical knowledge or qualifications would be advantageous but are not essential.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred.
