About the role: The role is responsible for the day-to-day execution of analytical testing and quality-system activities within the QC laboratory, as directed by QC leadership. The individual ensures all work is completed efficiently, accurately, and in full compliance with Good Laboratory Practice, supporting product quality and customer satisfaction across the business. They perform routine tasks with minimal supervision and are fully accountable for the quality of their output, consistently meeting or exceeding the standards set by laboratory management.
The individual will be responsible for:
- Conducting daily analytical testing in line with all relevant safety and quality requirements.
- Implementing, maintaining, and applying management, operational, and quality systems on a day-to-day basis.
- Understanding and contributing to key performance indicators.
- Participating in continual improvement activities within their area.
- Carrying out any reasonable request from their line manager.
- Championing a strong Quality culture—challenging processes, taking ownership, and ensuring compliant, continuously improving systems.
Role is Fixed Term - 12 Months
Your responsibilities:
- Perform analytical testing on QC batches and ensure accurate, compliant recording of data in line with GMP and GLP requirements.
- Organise and prioritise daily workload to meet customer, stakeholder, and service expectations.
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures and maintain high standards of laboratory and office housekeeping.
- Support audit readiness at all times and assist with Regulatory Authority inspections when required.
- Deliver all activities in compliance with cGMP, maintaining relevant documentation, processes, and systems.
- Take ownership of required training, maintain training compliance, and proactively develop skills through an individual development plan.
- Operate, maintain, and write/maintain SOPs for basic laboratory equipment; ensure equipment is suitably calibrated, qualified, and maintained.
- Contribute to key metrics, deliver tasks to meet or exceed QC KPI targets, and support continuous improvement across QC operations.
- Identify and escalate improvement opportunities within the section and ensure alignment with wider QC laboratory activities.
- Communicate issues effectively to support timely resolution while upholding a positive image of QC and the business.
- Work flexibly across laboratory areas as needed and provide support to QC line management when required.
The experience we're looking for:
- Degree level qualification and/or relevant and appropriate demonstrable skills and experience.
- Good delivery of core skills.
- Demonstrable or transferable skills relevant to the delivery of QC activities.
- Demonstrable skills in working within a multi-level team environment.
- Ability to work on own initiative and within a team of people.
- Basic awareness of troubleshooting.
- Good communication skills, both written and oral with sound presentation skills.
- Good IT skills required, such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Chromeleon and SAP would be advantageous.
