About the role

The Calibration Technician role at Reckitt exists to ensure that all items of plant and equipment across the Nottingham site is maintained to the appropriate standard to ensure that performance is safe, reliable and in accordance with the principles of Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP). As part of the role there will be times when delivery of continuous improvement and technical led fault-finding affecting equipment and performance will be required to support the development of the Manufacturing Facility and contribute to the Supply function meeting its customer service, quality, and cost targets. This is an engineering focused role, responsible for ensuring compliance within operations. With your own area of responsibility, you’ll be working at one of our largest sites. In a fast-paced manufacturing environment, you’ll be working in a team.

Your responsibilities

-Working flexibly on days (8.00-17.00) and occasional shift work (Mornings/Afternoons) to fit in around production schedules as required.

-Part of a team responsible for the management of site-wide; calibration, improvement, and related breakdown investigation activities of plant and equipment used in the manufacture and packaging of our pharmaceutical products.

– Will understand the requirements for the calibration of instrumentation systems and their effect on the process, Provide the front-line interface to the Users of the Pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities and a diagnostic and problem-solving service to operations in accordance with the principles of cGMP.

– Routine maintenance of control systems will be primary area of responsibility control loops, typically involving pressure, force, weight, level, temperature and flow.

– Use the CMMS system and resource to ensure that all agreed work is completed on time and ensure accurate and timely feedback of all tasks performed.

– Escalate calibration performance issues immediately via the site Quality systems to ensure that risk to product or consumer can be assessed in real time and comply with our obilgations as a pharmaceutical manufacturer.

– Planning and resourcing, including sourcing of materials & spare parts; supervising specialist calibration contractors and supporting the implementation of minor plant improvements.

– Ensure in house technical documents critical to calibration activities are reviewed, updated when required and new documents written when new assets are introduced into the factory.

– Key points of contact for the Calibration / Controls Technician are the C&I Manager, Shift Technicians, Manufacturing Technicians and Value Stream Managers.

– Embrace the change management process to ensure that all equipment changes are risk assessed and correctly documented – especially relevant to software changes.

– Participate in the planning and execution of training for self, other team members and manufacturing staff.

The experience we\’re looking for

– Apprentice trained in an electrical / controls discipline, through a recognised accredited body.

– Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an Electrical / Controls /Calibration Technician to be able to operate independently.

– HNC / HTQ Level 4 qualification or equivalent in one of the above disciplines.

– Experience in the maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical and electronic industrial control systems.

– Experience with the calibration of tablet presses a distinct advantage although training will be provided.

– Must have experience in dealing with staff at all levels of expertise, with the ability to communicate skilfully with people at their level of understanding.

– Knowledge and understanding of cGMP requirements desirable but not essential

– A good understanding of HSE aspects including, risk assessment, electricity at work regulations and permit to work.

– Have a minimum level of competence to be able to conduct the following:

    • Install and configure variable speed drive controllers desirable.
    • Understand how to optimize all types of automation sensors.
    • Recognize and demonstrate the importance of instrumentation calibration and associated record keeping that will satisfy regulatory audits.
