About the role: As Internal Audit Director - Enabling Functions & Risk Management, you will lead audit activities across enabling functions (Finance, HR & Payroll, Legal & Compliance, GBS, IT&D etc.) and provide independent oversight of enterprise risk management processes. This includes challenging risk frameworks, monitoring emerging risks, and ensuring robust governance and control processes across the Group. You will act as a trusted advisor to senior executives, deliver high-impact audits, and support the development of a strong risk-aware culture. This role combines strategic audit leadership with risk management oversight, ensuring alignment with IIA standards and best practices.
Your responsibilities:
- Audit leadership and oversight: Lead and sign off audit activities across enabling functions and risk management domains independently. Own a portfolio of valued activities, including thematic audits and cross-cutting risk analysis. Ensure robust governance and control processes, maintaining strong relationships at senior executive levels. Provide strategic oversight and challenge over audit activity, acting as a trusted advisor to relevant GEC members.
- Risk Management Oversight: Provide oversight and challenge on the design and maintenance of the enterprise risk management framework, ensuring alignment with governance principles and regulatory expectations. Oversee and challenge enterprise-wide risk identification, assessment, and prioritization processes, including maintenance of a centralized risk register. Provide independent challenge on risk response strategies and ensure alignment between controls and identified risks. Monitor key and emerging risks, ensuring timely escalation and reporting to executive management and the board. Promote a strong risk-aware culture across the organization, embedding risk considerations into strategic planning and decision-making. Collaborate with compliance, internal controls, and other oversight functions to maintain a cohesive second-line risk management system.
- Stakeholder engagement: Represent Global Audit in the business, engaging with senior stakeholders including GEC and GEC-1 members. Influence and facilitate discussions to deliver impactful insights and recommendations. Actively contribute to strategic improvements within Global Audit and risk management practices.
- Leadership & Development: Lead by example and foster a high-performance culture within the team. Mentor and develop Global Audit staff, ensuring succession planning and capability building. Champion innovation in audit and risk methodologies, including digital enablement.
The experience we're looking for:
- Qualified auditor/accountant with a proven track record of successfully leading internal audit and/or risk management teams in a major international organization or large accounting practice.
- 10+ years of experience in Internal Audit, Risk Management or related roles.
- FMCG/Consumer Health experience preferred, with strong understanding of corporate functions and enterprise risk frameworks.
- Expertise in developing and innovating leading internal audit and risk management processes, systems, and practices.
- Strategic mindset with ability to interpret and evaluate control and process issues.
- Strong influencing and communication skills across global boundaries.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholder communities with varying levels of experience.
- Comfortable working with ERP systems and modern analytics tools (JDE/SAP/Power BI desirable).
