About the role:

NOTE - This is for an initial fixed term period until 1st June 2028. Our Packaging Technologists are responsible for the delivery of packaging projects and activities including New Product Development / Existing Product Development, Productivity, Capex Qualification and implementation of new technology to support compliance. They lead on packaging validation, provision of technical and quality solutions, facilitation of cross functional solutions, and the coaching and development of packaging technicians.

Your responsibilities:

  • Support resolution of packaging issues affecting current business.
  • Support factory troubleshooting that are packaging related such as design, specification, supplier changes.
  • Co-ordinate with other functions to validate any changes in equipment, packaging or procedures and ensure accuracy with activities such as tasks, tests and sampling plans.
  • Responsible for all project activity and delivery occurring within the packaging area for NPD, technical transfers and EPD.
  • Deliver all documentation on time in full with quality right first time.
  • Responsible for scoping and execution of production trials ensuring; scheduling and availability of components, documentation, approvals, sampling/testing, stakeholder relations to ensure functional support.
  • Support delivery of CI for packaging processes and procedures.
  • Coach and develop packaging Technologists to deliver KPIs.
  • Provide input towards the health innovation process, NPDs and EPDs, ensuring Supply involvement to correctly scope the course of delivery, as well as supporting Marketing, R&D, Regulatory and other stakeholders as required in the project execution with a “can-do” relationship.

The experience we're looking for:

  • Ideally a minimum of 2 years’ experience in packaging technician or technologist roles, graphics, print, repro or manufacturing (ops, engineering, quality, technical) background.
  • Experience in liaising with stakeholders across multiple departments, gaining alignment on project plans and acceptance criteria.
  • Operations experience: following standardised work documentation (SOPs, Work Instructions), validation experience, track record of using knowledge and experience to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues (EH&S, Quality, OEE, Cost) due to poor packaging components.
  • Training colleagues in new processes, procedures (train the trainer qualification or equivalent).
  • Project management / trials experience – experience in planning, coordinating, executing and documenting trial or project activity to set deadlines. (Desirable)
