Are you a 3D generalist with a focus on medical/science/data visualisation? We are looking for a driven senior 3D artist who shares our team's passion for visualising the very forefront of biotech, pharmaceutical and medtech innovations. Reciprocal Space is a world-leading visual science communication studio based in London. We help biotech, medtech and pharmaceutical companies communicate their R&D, technology, products and services in an engaging and professional way. We work at the interface of creative high-profile design and scientific precision. Our services span 3D and 2D animation, presentation design, illustrations, branding, web design, video/photography, VR/AR and more.
The position is entirely on-site at our London office. The job entails producing 3D animations and motion graphics under the supervision of the Creative and Scientific Directors. Due to the nature of our projects, experience or background in scientific/medical/technical fields or a science-oriented discipline/degree is compulsory.
What we expect from you:
- Extensive experience with 3D motion design, modelling, texturing, rendering, lighting, animation, compositing and editing
- Demonstrated minimum 8+ years of studio experience, crafting unique and exceptional 3D designs and animations
- Either previous background or proven experience in medicine/biological/chemical sciences
- Ability to analyse and understand complex data and concepts, and turn them into visual stories
- Fantastic interpersonal communication skills and a positive, "can do" personality - characteristic traits of our team
- Exceptional problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under time pressure, juggle multiple deadlines
- A strong sense of structure and methodology to your workflow
- Proactive, not reactive attitude
Essential technical experience:
- Cinema 4D, Octane, Redshift, X-particles, MoGraph, Substance Painter, rigging, Premiere Pro, After Effects; some knowledge of Blender and its geometry node system
Additional preferred experience:
- ZBrush, Unreal Engine - also in the context of VR or AR
Role responsibilities:
- Developing 3D animation projects based on scientific brief, storyboard and script, through to rendering, postproduction and final edit
- Supporting 3D development of assets for other projects in the company (website, deck, app design etc)
- When necessary, interfacing with the client directly - with the confidence to advise or push back and liaise for feedback
- Mentoring more junior team members on skills and best practices, adopting a coaching approach to ensure that they feel supported
- Willingness to progress to a leadership role (such as team lead) in the near future
