We are looking for a new Content Strategist to join our award-winning team. This can be either a hybrid position (3 days in the office, 2 days working from home) or fully remote depending on the successful client’s location.

The Content Strategist is a key member of the SEO team within Receptional’s broader Organic function, responsible for developing and delivering data-driven content strategies that drive organic performance for clients. Your primary role is to plan and execute creative campaigns across a diverse range of content formats. This role bridges the gap between SEO insight and content execution, translating technical findings, keyword data, and competitive analysis into clear, actionable content plans that are aligned with client objectives.

Working closely with the Head of SEO, the Head of Off-Page SEO, the wider Organic team, and client services, the Content Strategist ensures content campaigns are purposeful, measurable, and consistently optimised to drive organic traffic. The Content Strategist is also responsible for producing high-quality, timely, and relevant content that aligns SEO best practices and brand guidelines. The Content Strategist is also expected to carry out effective research, demonstrate an understanding of the target audience (particularly within the iGaming sector), and support internal training and marketing initiatives. The role may also involve managing junior team members, contributing to their development, and helping maintain team quality standards.

The role involves owning the end-to-end content strategy process, from audit and planning through to briefing, quality review, and performance analysis, while also contributing to pitches, proposals, and thought leadership.

Job Requirements

  • A passion for writing with the ability to create different content forms for different platforms, and evidence of writing to a high-quality standard.
  • Proven experience in content strategy, ideally within a digital marketing agency environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of SEO principles, including keyword research, search and user intent, content optimisation, metadata, and topic authority.
  • Proficiency in SEO tools such as Ahrefs, SEMrush, Screaming Frog, Google Search Console, and GA4.
  • Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable content strategies and briefs.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality strategic documents and client-facing content.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple client strategies simultaneously.
  • Experience working collaboratively across teams, particularly SEO, content production, and client services.
  • Familiarity with AI tools and evolving SERP features (e.g. AI Overviews, LLMs) and their impact on content strategy.
  • Proficient in MS Office and project management software (e.g. Monday.com, Meistertask).

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in iGaming, sports betting, or a regulated sector.
  • Degree in Marketing, Journalism, English, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with content performance measurement and reporting frameworks.
  • Previous line management or mentoring experience.
  • Understanding of digital PR and how earned media intersects with content strategy.
  • Commercially aware, with an understanding of how content contributes to business growth and client retention.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive content strategies for clients, informed by keyword research, competitive analysis, SERP landscape assessment, and audience insight.
  • Produce content audits to assess existing content performance, identify gaps, and define consolidation, optimisation, or creation priorities.
  • Define content architecture recommendations, including topic clustering, internal linking frameworks, and pillar-page structures.
  • Build and maintain client content calendars that align with SEO priorities, commercial objectives, and key industry moments (e.g. sporting calendar for iGaming clients).
  • Monitor algorithm updates, SERP feature changes (including AI Overviews and LLMs), and evolving content formats, and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Plan, brief, oversee and deliver multi-format content (blogs, landing pages, social, whitepapers, video scripts, etc.) that leverage the content calendar and deliver measurable results.
  • Review and quality-assure content output to ensure it meets SEO best practices, client tone of voice, and user engagement before delivery.
  • Provide editorial feedback and strategic direction to team members, supporting continuous improvement of content quality and SEO alignment.
  • Maintain and evolve content style guides and quality standards in collaboration with the content team.
  • Work closely with the Head of SEO and SEO specialists to ensure content strategies are fully integrated with on-page and technical SEO activity, including the delivery of on-page content.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Off-Page SEO to align content strategy with link acquisition goals, including the development of linkable assets and digital PR-led content.
  • Contribute to cross-team strategy sessions, ensuring content planning reflects the full organic picture.
  • Support SEO reporting by tracking content performance metrics including organic traffic, rankings movement, engagement rate, and conversion contribution.
  • Become a leader and mentor within the Organic team, providing editorial guidance, creative direction and performance feedback.
  • Ensure high standards of quality and timely execution.
  • Foster a dynamic, innovative and collaborative team culture that encourages professional growth and knowledge sharing.
  • Work directly with clients and internal stakeholders to understand business goals, present campaign strategies and report on performance.
  • Present content strategies and performance updates to clients in a clear, commercially-framed manner, demonstrating the rationale and expected business impact.
  • Contribute to quarterly strategy reviews (QSRs) and key account management sessions, bringing content performance insight and forward-looking recommendations.
  • Proactively identify content-led upsell and cross-sell opportunities within client accounts, working with client services to develop proposals.
  • Attend client calls and meetings as required, acting as a credible and informed point of contact on content strategy.
  • Contribute to pitch and proposal development, producing content strategy sections that demonstrate Receptional’s strategic capability and sector expertise.
  • Support the agency’s thought leadership and marketing activity by contributing content insights, case studies, and strategic commentary.
  • Represent the Organic team’s content expertise in internal and external settings.
