We currently working with a well-established main contractor that operates all throughout London and the Southeast of England. With a Turnover around £90m. Services provided include Construction, Refurbishments, and Regeneration for all sectors such as Residential, Commercial, Healthcare, Education, Heritage, and Public Spaces. They work with a broad range of customers, encompassing both public and private companies, government departments, local authorities, housing associations and schools. The Role

Our client is currently seeking to recruit a Project Planner to join their existing team of 6 Planners in Essex, this role will be office based with travel to sites during the week as and when needed. The successful candidate will be working on 3 to 5 projects at a time and will have experience using ASTA Power Project. Provide a support service to the work winning and project teams to produce and monitor efficient and effective programmes and logistics/phasing plans, to ensure that projects are delivered safely on time and within budget.

Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure that the Company Health and Safety policy and Company’s Management System is complied with at all times, putting safety above all other considerations.
  • Contribute to the management and development of relationships with customers and project stakeholders to promote the Company’s good reputation.
  • Support the work winning team by providing a planning service to produce efficient and effective programmes, method statements and logistics/phasing plans.
  • Take part in the tender handover process to gain a full understanding of the submitted tender and requirements of the contract.
  • Contribute to the production and maintenance of the following:
    • Procurement Summary
    • Design Release Schedule
    • Information Required Schedule
    • Main Contract Deliverables Schedule (entered on Connect)
  • Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders regularly and involve parties as necessary to ensure prompt and effective resolution of issues to facilitate successful project completion. Present programmes and plans to project stakeholders as required.
  • Closely monitor progress against the agreed project programme to identify risks in achieving completion on time, and opportunities for mitigation of delays/earlier completion, and provide complete and accurate reports to senior management regularly.
  • Support the project team to recover full entitlement in respect of customer changes and extensions of time, including production of delay analysis/impact programmes and narrative reports to substantiate entitlement.
  • Supporting the project team to manage disputes with supply chain in respect of programme matters.
  • Contribute to Post Contract Reviews to identify lessons learnt to inform improvement in project processes.
  • Actively develop own knowledge and capabilities relevant to job role.
  • Support the Company’s commitment to sustainability.

Skills, Experience and Qualities:

  • Has a good understanding of health and safety, environment and sustainability requirements for construction projects.
  • Has a good knowledge of construction detailing, buildability issues, materials, and statutory regulations.
  • Likely to hold a higher education qualification in construction management or qualified by experience.
  • Likely to hold membership of CIOB or RICS.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Able to present programmes and plans to internal and external stakeholders and influence decision making.
  • Identifies potential issues promptly, intervenes and influences to address issues and escalates where appropriate.
  • Has a good understanding of how programme decisions are likely to affect project costs.
  • Has a good understanding of contract obligations and entitlement in relation to programming matters.
  • Customer focused, with the ability to build strong lasting relationships with clients and teams.
  • Well organised, with a planned, disciplined approach to work.
