Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Intermediate Quantity Surveyor Location: Orpington, Kent Sector: High-end Residential Refurbishment & Education Project Values: Up to £4m A main contractor based in Kent is looking to appoint an experienced Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. The business delivers a range of refurbishment projects, with a strong focus on high-end residential refurbishment and education schemes, with project values reaching up to approximately £4m. This is a good opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their commercial experience within a supportive team, gaining exposure across projects from procurement through to completion. The Role * Supporting the Quantity Surveyor with the commercial management of projects from pre-construction through to completion. * Assisting with valuations, variations, subcontractor payments and final accounts. * Reviewing and managing subcontractor packages and costs. * Assisting with procurement and obtaining competitive quotations. * Monitoring project costs, budgets and commercial performance. * Supporting monthly applications, valuations and cost reporting. * Assisting with variations and contractual documentation. * Working closely with site teams, clients, subcontractors and suppliers. * Developing towards taking full commercial responsibility for projects. The Ideal Candidate * Around 3 - 6 years’ experience within an Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Quantity Surveyor position. * Main contracting, refurbishment or construction experience. * Experience across residential and/or education projects would be advantageous. * Good understanding of valuations, variations, procurement, subcontractor management and cost control. * Strong numerical and analytical skills with good attention to detail. * Confident communicator with the ability to work closely with site and commercial teams. * Ambitious and keen to progress towards a Quantity Surveyor position. * Based within a commutable distance of South East London / Kent
